Ambulance Medical Biller & Coder position - Atlanta, GA
Location: Atlanta
The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely billing of ambulance transports, while maintaining the minimum quality and productivity standards set for the Super User.
The incumbent is expected to determine diagnosis and levels of service based on information provided on the Patient Care Report (PCR) and to accurately bill, using the appropriate codes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Assign appropriate modifiers, based on origin and destination of trip
•Work with Ambulance Medical staff to obtain completed paper work with proper signatures from EMT’s and Para Medics
•Review, modify as necessary, and bill claims in “queue”
•Correct “Electronic Claim Transmission” (ECT) reports as necessary
•Review and/or determine the appropriate primary source of payment as necessary
•Determine the Level of Service to be billed, based on supporting documentation on the PCR and/or in the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) notes.
•Assign proper condition codes/ICD-9 codes/procedure codes into the Accounts Receivable Billing System
•Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
2+ years of Ambulance Medical Billing & Coding Experience Required
High School Diploma/GED Required
Experience with Allscripts and Open Practice Strongly Preferred
