Position Responsibilities – Summary

 

My client is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to join their award winning Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management (PM) development team.  They need an experienced software engineer with a passion for technology and delivering best-in-class solutions to a very committed and loyal customer base. 

 

The selected candidate will be highly entrepreneurial, results-oriented, and thrive on delivering solutions that make a positive impact in the day-to-day experience of healthcare delivery and quality for both physicians and patients.  Strong knowledge of Java, object oriented programming, design patterns, and agile development are required.

 

Reports to the VP.

 

·         Work with their team to understand, clarify, and shape requirements.

·         Perform high level and detailed design to satisfy complex business requirements.

·         Lead architectural/design discussions, prototype development, design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring of team members.

·         Analyze software components and lead both architectural and code refactoring efforts to improve reliability, performance, and scalability.

·         Provide troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production issues that are escalated to the engineering team.

·         Define and lead agile software development practices, and coordinate all aspects of software development. 

·         Lead project implementation efforts using the latest technologies and best practices.

·         Communicate effectively and appropriately to team members at all levels across the organization.

Required Skills and Competencies:

·         Very strong communication skills.

·         Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.

·         7+ years of experience as a software engineer.

·         5+ years of Java development – Full Stack

·         Experience in a role that demonstrates strong technical leadership.

·         Expertise with Enterprise Java, web service standards, and open source frameworks.

·         Expertise in object oriented design and development.

·         Expertise with software design patterns and best practices.

·         Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases.

·         Ability to develop and drive process improvements within the organization.

·         Strong understanding of agile software development practices.

·         Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is a plus.

·         Background in the healthcare industry is a plus.

Position Summary:

The Investor Engagement team plays a critical role in the firm’s success by providing continuous support and solutions to the firm’s globally located investors across Asset Allocation, Commodities, Equity, Fixed Income, Macro Analysis and Risk Management.

There is an opportunity for a strong Lead Systems Analyst to play a key role in this large team, deliver solutions to our business partners, solve complex problems, and generally act to ensure that service levels within this area are maintained at a high level.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·          Interact directly with investment professionals at all levels of the organization as a trusted advisor.

·          Proactively identify issues and opportunities for improved methods and approaches to support investment processes.

·          Answer functional and technical questions from business partners and colleagues.   

·          Manage production incidents, determining root cause, appropriate corrective actions, and follow-up.

·          Respond to requests from our business for ad hoc analysis as well as other information delivery solutions.

·          Provide guidance and supervision of junior members of the team as well as onshore and offshore consultants.

·          Design, support, improve, and develop data validation and productivity tools and processes within this area.

Required Skills and Competencies:

·          Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Economics, Finance or related subject 

·          5+ years business analysis or systems analysis experience in financial statement analysis, investment management or financial services environment 

·          Analytical and problem solving skills in buy-side investment management systems and data technologies. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

·          Understanding of financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, swaps, options, futures, forwards, derivatives and FX.

·          Hands-on experience working directly with investment professionals.

·          Experience with advanced investment data concepts such as holdings, transactions, security master, analytics, and performance.

·          High attention to detail and strong commitment to delivering quality, professional work is absolutely essential for this position.

·          Intermediate level expertise with PL/SQL.

·          Willingness and ability to work independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced, business-critical environment.

 

Keys to this Role:

 

·          We are seeking a hands-on, technical support lead with excellent communication and problem-solving skills

·          Domain knowledge:  Broad investment knowledge (equities, fixed income, asset allocation. etc.). 

·          Leadership:  Strong Leadership and delivery skills are required.

·          This individual will interface directly with Investors so the candidate must have strong communication skills.  

·          Strong Analyst skills are required. 

·          Technical skills:  SQL is required to query the database.
