Human Resources Director – North America

Location: Cleveland, OH

Company description:

An industrial engineering group that designs and supplies process equipment, production lines and turnkey plants for the world's largest industrial groups in the aluminum, steel, glass, automotive, logistics, cement and energy sectors. It has 60 operating sites in over 30 countries with 7600 employees and sales of 2.4 B$. The group has over 15 operating sites in the US and Canada with 1800 employees and sales of 750 M$.

Position in the organization:
This position will report under the hierarchical supervision of the President and COO - North America, and the functional supervision of the Global Group Human Resources Director.

Description of the tasks and functions:
For all subsidiaries owned by the Group in North America, working in close collaboration with local HR Managers, local CEO's, Division CEO'S and the Group HR department:
• Ensure the application of all HR programs, policies, and guidelines.
• Review of all wages, salaries and bonus programs providing guidelines and benchmark information.
• Monitor all existing Union Labor Agreements including grievances and negotiations of renewal of Agreements.
• Develop and implement general training programs and cooperative education programs with Universities and Colleges.
• Coordinate the performance evaluation process and all follow-up actions.
• Involvement in the implementation of succession plans for all key positions.
• Interview and selection of key senior managers before hiring.
• Involvement when there is reduction in personnel, working with outside counsel when necessary.
• Supervision of safety plans and worker's compensation programs working to improve the safety record of all subsidiaries.
• Supervision of all employees benefits programs including health, dental, life, disability and 401K plans insuring that all subsidiaries follow the same general philosophy and strategy.
• Identification of potential legal issues and proactive assistance to subsidiaries to mitigate risk, working with outside counsel when appropriate.
• Drives the HR function in the region and is responsible for the regional HR committee.

Skills and abilities required:
• Organization and rigor
• High degree of autonomy and initiative
• Strong leadership, transparent, respectful
• Over 10 years of senior HR experience working for an international group
• Solid communication skills
• Must be ready to travel frequently
