Senior Information Architect

REPORTS TO : CIO
Data is a significant corporate asset and as such, our client has a strategic business objective to grow core competencies and market capabilities regarding big data and health care analytics.

To achieve that goal, our client is looking for a Senior Information Architect to substantially enhance their foundational capabilities of:

  • Ingesting and managing voluminous amounts of heterogeneous data;
  • Developing processes for ensuring data integrity across these large datasets;
  • Creating enablers to integrate these datasets into software applications.

The Senior Information Architect (SIA) will be a player/coach responsible for developing a comprehensive enterprise data strategy & information management roadmap and plan.
The SIA will also be responsible for building the capability to improve the company’s data acquisition of industry standard formats, catalogue this data, and make it available for use. The solution may include designing and implementing some components as data-as-a-service (building on the existing SOA platform), executing machine learning algorithms for data analysis, and developing innovative ways to visualize data assets.

Time-to-market is critical to enable rapid integration with clients, partners and allow for creative business analytics of the data.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Bring an outside-in Information Architect perspective to our client’s enterprise data initiative.
  • Develop the information architecture/enterprise data strategy and roadmap bringing fresh ideas to increase business value.
  • Be the creative force and champion for the big data initiative, helping IT and the business units understand its capabilities and making full use of the investment.
  • Develop requirements for data acquisition, integration, business analytics and visualization.
  • Deliver reliable, scalable, big data analytical/machine learning solutions in partnership with software delivery teams that meet business and performance needs.
  • Assess gaps in current data integrity and information management capabilities and develop a go-forward plan.
  • Leverage 3rd parties and open source communities to further enable the plan and reduce time-to-market.
  • Create an information catalog to provide the visibility into our client’s information assets.
  • Implement a meta data management program to describe the data within the catalog.
  • Leverage data privacy and protection systems to ensure consistent application of corporate data protection policies and ensure the security of the data.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with structured and unstructured database tools: Oracle, SQL Server, Hadoop (HBASE, Cassandra), NoSQL, etc.
  • Passion and drive to conceive new ways to conduct our client business through big data/machine learning.
  • A student of continuous learning focused on leading edge data bases, data management, and enabling, business analytics.
  • Experience working in a high volume, Real Time data environment.
  • Experience leading successful data warehousing and analytics implementations
  • Ability to author architecture documents describing data integration, delivery and analytics including software and hardware requirements.
  • Ability to manage and work across a Matrix organization.
  • Experience creating prototypes.
  • Experience performance tuning and optimizing solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Works with a sense of urgency and accuracy in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Responsive to change – Adapts (quickly) to changing circumstances.
  • Individually responsible for results – Engages in activities and experiences that strengthen contribution to the organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7-10 years working with large, complex, heterogeneous, enterprise datasets.
  • Strong development background in either Java or C/C++.
  • BS (Masters preferred) in computer science or quantitative discipline.
  • Knowledge of health care, particularly the IT organization, is desirable.

JOB DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to work from our corporate offices located in Atlanta near the Perimeter Mall.
  • There are minimal travel requirements for this position.
