We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following dynamic position:
Part Time Development Specialist: Grant Writer
A. FUNCTION:
The Part Time Development Specialist: Grant Writer (20 hours per week) supports the Development Department in the areas of grant writing, grant reporting, and coordination of funding research. They will also maintain relationships internally with Program Directors, program partners and funder representatives. They are a team member in determining grant writing, funding reporting and maintenance schedules and provide timely communication with development staff, program directors, finance department and funding partners and ensure the meeting of department and funder's deadlines.
B. QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCY FACTORS:
• Experience in non-profit setting or industry related to children, social services, school, or day treatment
• Minimum of three-five years non-profit grant writing and research experience
• Excellent writing and editing skills; must be proficient with track changes and comment features in Microsoft Word
• Strong, clear verbal communication skills; with ability to communicate with all levels of organization
• Strong time management skills, detail oriented, and ability to work on multiple projects at one time
• Willingness to accept constructive support & criticism
• Budget preparation experience
• Proficient (intermediate to expert level) with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel software
• Experience with development databases (including The Foundation Directory) and other resources, preferred
C. RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develops and supports foundation, city, county, state, federal and corporate grant writing proposals and reporting; tailors proposals and reports to fit the submission requirements, as well as prepares and submit completes required attachments;
• Coordinates research, identifies funding opportunities, obtains guidelines, maintains data & information, generates research reports as required;
• Maintain both electronic and hard copy funder files;
• Maintains active contact and relationships with EBAC program directors and their senior directors, school partners, collaborating CBO's, government entities and foundation representatives;
• Ability to function as a team member in determining grant writing, funding reporting and maintenance schedules and to communicate these in a timely manner with development staff, program directors, finance department and funding partners; meets department and funder's deadlines;
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, taking initiative as appropriate, and also able to work as a team member.
• Commitment to and knowledge of issues related to public education, after school programs, children and family physical and/or mental health.
C. WORKING CONDITIONS and JOB SETTING
• Work is primarily in an office setting in a multi-story building with stairs that need to be climbed for access to the other floors as needed.
• Periodic driving may be required.
• Periodic lifting up to 25 pounds is required.
