SSAS Cube Developer

6 month contract, possible extensions

*Will hire off of phone interview, but candidate must sit on site in Ft. Collins, CO during contract duration

Denver, CO

 

SQL Server:

1.       Strong SQL Query skills
2.       Ability to create database objects such as tables and views,
3.       SQL Performance tuning including the use of the Tuning wizard.
4.       SQL table partitioning

 

SSAS:

1.       VERY STRONG MDX skills

2.       Ability to write MDX queries both for trouble shooting and creating reports

3.       Ability to write MDX calculated members using complex logic including logic related to current levels within a hierarchy

4.       Thorough knowledge of cell level security and how it relates to calculated members

5.       Ability to create dimensions with and without hierarchies

6.       Ability to create and maintain partitions within a measure group

7.       In depth knowledge of the AMO object model and the ability to use that model thru C# or VB script

8.       Ability to create proper dimension / fact mappings

9.       Ability to create and use role playing dimensions

10.   Ability to create and maintain the data source view

11.   Ability to create ACTIONS which can be used to drill from SSAS cells to SSRS with the current cube context

12.   Knowledge of the SSAS development life cycle including deployment to non-development servers

13.   Ability to work with PowerPivot within Excel spreadsheets.

 

SSIS:

1.       Ability to write queries that will perform most of the transformation in the SQL engine rather than in the SSIS package

2.       Familiar with multiple data sources, not just SQL Server.  IE Oracle, MySQL, Excel, Flat Files

3.       Knowledge of the SSIS transformation objects such as data conversion, derived columns, script, including the creation of conditional assignments

4.       Knowledge of logging and error handling within an SSIS package

5.       Conditional execution of objects within the Control Flow

6.       Restartability of packages and jobs

7.       Ability to create SQL Server Jobs and schedule them for execution

 

SSRS:

1.       Ability to write both SQL and MDX report queries.  Not just drag elements in and let SSRS write the query

2.       Knowledge of SSRS within the SharePoint environment

3.       Ability to reference report parameters within the MDX queries

4.       Ability to create dynamic MDX and SQL queries

 

Visual Studio 2010/2012:

1.       Ability to work with SSRS, SSAS, SSIS projects and solutions

2.       Ability to work with database projects for maintaining SQL objects

3.       Knowledge of C# and the ability to develop C# projects

 

 

General knowledge:

A background in accounting or at the very least familiar with accounting practices and terminology  is very helpful.

A history of working in the Business Intelligence space in addition to data warehousing.  IE knowing what kinds of anomalies and trends customers need to make decisions
