POSITION: VP/Director of Monetization (title depends on experience).  This is a management position reporting directly to the CEO.  However, it will be an individual contributor position initially.  As you hit your numbers, then you will be able to build out a team.

LOCATION:  Candidates must live within commuting distance to downtown San Francisco.  Or be willing to relocate.   Working remotely is not an option. 

  

COMPENSATION: Compensation includes base, bonus, and equity plus full benefits package.  Total cash comp will most likely be in the $200-300k range.  Client is willing and able to put together the right package for the right candidate.  Want someone who is hungry and motivated, confident in their abilities.  There will be accelerators for you to achieve additional bonus as you hit your numbers.    

 

PERSONAL SUMMARY: Position reports to CEO.  He likes to manage people by objectives.  He really likes people who are self-driven.  Prefers to make sure someone understands the objectives and what needs to be done, and then come to him with any questions.  He likes to help someone set the goals, then support that person to make sure they can overcome any obstacles.  Prefer open lines of communication and be kept informed along the way.  No surprises.  Prefer team players that are ambitious, self-demanding, smart and fun!   CEO likes to have a super open, non-political culture where people and information are accessible.  He promotes a work style that is casual, open and fun.  He wants to have as much as they can! 

 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Must have significant hands-on experience converting users from a free-mium model into paying subscribers.   Must be able to clearly outline at least one success story in your career of how you successfully figured out the ideal price point, feature list along with how to retain subscribers.  Client is only interested in candidates that really owned it and figured it out; the person that created and executed the strategy.  
  • Must understand their target audience.   They are in the B2B space, but selling to individuals.  Think LinkedIn.  Targeting professionals in business and SMB. 
  • Must have a proven track record of growing revenues.  Need someone who is very analytical.  CEO wants to know what you personally did to increase revenues.  Wants to know how you conducted experiments and tests in order to figure out the right price point, product mix, etc.  How you figured out what worked and didn’t work is important.  
  • Must be super analytical and objective.  CEO doesn’t want someone who just THINKS they know, he wants someone who can analyze data without being emotional or subjective.  Need someone who can operate quickly with the rest of the team to get product changes implemented quickly.  
  • Must know how to work on internal teams to get things done.  Need someone who knows how to communicate with product and engineering.  Need someone who knows how to use numbers and facts when communicating.   
  • Must be someone who enjoys the entrepreneurial atmosphere of a small company, but has been through the experience of scaling up an enterprise to significant organization size and revenues. Experience working in a dynamic (i.e. “startup”) environment is preferred.  
  • Must be someone experienced at creating AND executing a strategic plan for monetization.
